Issue of property

(Querist) 26 April 2013 This query is : Resolved
My father-in-law died last year, now brother-in-laws are forcing us to sell out the house or to give a huge amount to them against the same. We are staying there and that is father-in-laws house, what is the possible way to keep the house with us?

As you are aware your brother-in-laws being the legal heirs of your deceased father-in-law are entitled to their share in the property. Therefore they are right in demanding their share.

You want to know as to what is the possible way to keep the house with you.

The only possible way is that, one has to get the valuation of the house done. On that basis, one should work out the share of each of the legal heirs. You have to pay out the money to each of the legal heirs after getting the sale deed executed by them in your favour.

I do endorse the advice of Anirudh.
