This query is : Resolved
Hello,
My parents passport have spelling mistake in surname,In all documents it is Awanti but in passport it is Awanthi. They are planning to travel abroad in 3-4 months. But problem is their address has changed from the address stated in passport, so it will be as good as Applying for new passport.
My question is if we create a affidavit and publish in paper that Awanti and Awanthi both are same, will that work for Visa? They will be travelling on tourist/visitor visa.

Dear For correction in visa/passport simple affadavit procedure is not valid, you have to take declaration from the civil court regarding this and after that attach with application to the passport authority.

In all documents it is Avanti - What all documents? For travelling abroad you need a pass port, visa and ticket. Even address is changed, how it will affect the travel plans? You can change the address when you you wish to renew the pass port at the time of expiry. Likewise you change the address in the pass port at that time. For the present what all needed is the 3 documents and your query do not relate to these 3 documents. Do not think too much and complicate the matters for yourself.

Dear Querist
news papers publication with affidavit is sufficient for correction the name or spelling, you should apply for this along with all the documents as fresh passport.
you can read the terms and condition/format of affidavit and publication in the form, the relevant documents and format are attached with the passport form. its depend on the Passport authority to accept or reject the application or demand any civil court order regarding declaration of spelling mistake or not.

Whether the spelling mistake was from Passport office or the forms were wrongly filed by your parents.
If it is passport office you can apply for rectification.
If name is to be changed due to your mistake if filling in the form, Passport would be reissued and all documents would be required.
For change in address, passport need to be reissued after submission of all the required documents.
