A society registered under Societies Act will remain a society but if it is under a Trust deed, the bye laws of the trust will prevail.

1. Bombay Public Trust Act
2. Indian Societies Act
3. Maharashtra Cooperative Society's Act
All the above acts are independent. A Cooperative Society is an autonomous body, as declared under the 97th constitutional amendent. Thus it cannot be taken over. However it can be liquidated and deregistered.
