You are liable to pay a compensation, assuming that student completed studies and earned during his life time.
But, you are worried about the compensation payable to the student, your tone, has shown any guilty of the institution.

Accident due to whose fault. What the post mortem report says.If it sounds in your favour you need not pay any compensation. For example if the victim was under any influence of alcohal or drugs at the time of accident

boy fell into a septic tank, which was open for cleaning by professional cleaners. He went there without any a reason meaning he was not working or cleaning there and accidentally fell into it.

First you ensure with strong evidence to prove there is no necessity for the victim to dwell in the particular place of mishap.Confirm with the professional cleaners whether they had kept any warning sign so that you will be more strong.more over the boy is not a kid or not having any visual problem You could refuse to pay any compensation since the mishap was purely invited by the victim.Consult a good advocate

Sir we are willing to pay but the family is demading very huge compensation. Being a charitable organization we will not be able to meet their demands. but we have bore all hosipital and all expenses for cremination and money for the family to conduct all required things in their home. and we also offered offers that is in our limitations. but when they saw that we are being well with them their are demanding for huge amount of money, land and money to start bussiness and so on. being a charitable org. we are sad that such thing occured in our campus and it was never the institutions fault, as the police report and post mortem report supports us.

if they are demanding huge compensation then let them contest in court.
