A friend of mine was attacked in FACEBOOK. A baseless allegation of visiting brothels and getting arrested were made. It was done as his comments were against Modi. When he demanded the retraction of statement and apology, the thread was deleted but no apology has come. He has also threatened on phone. Can a FIR filed under IT Act? The thread has been downloaded

A thread was being run by a Modi fan, say A ,who was criticising Arvind Kejuriwal My friend wrote defending Kejuriwal. Another Modi fan, say B, attacked him personally by saying that my friend had visited brothel and had been arrested in the past which is not a fact. My friend wrote in that threat for immediate deletion and an apology. A immediately deleted the thread.But B has not apologized.Can a FIR be filed under IT Act?
