Placement of Split Ac outdoor unit

Hello

Today i was installing my split's outdoor unit on the exterior wall of my building my neighbour started objecting for the same. There is a decent 5 foot space between both the buildings still he is objecting.

Is it illegeal to install a split outdoor unit on the exterior wall of the building ?

What are the terms and conditions of the Byelaw of your apartment/building? consult a local lawyer expertise in civil matters.

Try to have amicable solution, legal steps apart from being cost and time consuming, would spoil mutual relation for years and have to wait years for the court orders with uncertainty.

Do efforts through elders / society effective people / common friends to arrive at the amicable solution.
