You have to complete law degree if you want to practice, diploma is not advised.
R.Ramachandran (Expert) 26 December 2010
If you want to practice law, you have to do minimum 3 year LL.B. regular degree course.
Bachelor of General Law or Diploma in Law etc., will not enable you to practice as a lawyer.

Well advised Mr. Ramchandran.

I think by getting BGL he can work as a lawyer in any company but can not practice as an advocate.
Gulshan Tanwar (Expert) 28 December 2010
Either join 3 years LL.B Course or 5 years Integrated course from any University, provided it has the affiliation from the BCI and UGC.

Also to remember that it must be regular course and not in any other mode either Part-time or correspondence.
