sir what is the meaning of exemplary cost in the trial of offence?

what time the exemplary cost ipossed by court? and to whom?

In the legal language some times it means more cost. But the dictionary meaning is fit to be imitated; serving as an example.

If any cost is imposed on either of the parties that can be followed or imitated by other courts.
