As per the advice , I went to revenue authorities for grant of heirship certificate. But revenue authorities say , that they don't have authority to issue the same. They said, they asks people to produce the same from competant authority. I stay in. Maharashra . Are rules/act different in Maharashtra.

The heirship certificate is issued by the Collector showing the names of all the legal heirs of deceased and is valid for up to Rs. 5000/- only for excess amount you have to obtain succession certificate from the competent Civil Court.
