Difference between a discharge and acquittal

Dear Exerts,
1. A person/accused has been discharged.
2. A person/accused has been acquitted.
What are the practical differences between the above two sentences. Please let me know all the practical aspects.

Dishcharge means accused may be discharged from the offences on the basis of the application for discharge is filed or on the basis of hearing before charge or if there are no ingredients are covered of the offences.
Acquittal means after completing the evidence when prosecution failed to prove the guilt of the accused then court will acquit the accused.

Discharge can be done before the charges are frmed.
Acquittal can be done only when the trial concludes.
