generally when signature or thumb impresson is taken it is mentioned as to the date when it was signed or thum impression was taken . is it an academic query/ what arefacts of your case?

the signatures or the Thumb Expressions were executed on the document :
Hand writing experts can detect , by ink penetration, and age of paper, the time,
They are Professionals and well trained for such forensic science ..
They can distinguish color and shades of INK with contents of Documents and Witness signature.
It can speak volumes of Forgery, in WILL, Property Docs

hai. the age of the signature or thumb impression can be known but it may not be correct. because the ink or ink pad may be old or new, accordingly u get the age by the forensic experts. but not actual age?

Probabilities always remain in such examination as this is not a accurate sciece however it can tel near about period of signature and thumb impression.

Only an expert opinion through FSL could establish such fact.

I think the date of one of the signatures of the witness on a document was probably done a year later when it was executed .. can i prove this in the court by the help of forensic science ..

Age of the ink can be ascertained, but the age of the document based on that can not be ascertained.
So,for no court has accepted, this kind of evidence. If anybody has any knowledge of the case law on age of the ink, may kindly post it.

There would be two opinion as other side shall also buy an opinion then between the two, the court would be the last expert leaning towards the more probable case,such opinions do not arithmetically and conclusively prove any fact in issue.
