I recently made an agreement with a person to buy a property. We made a written agreement on a Rs.20/- stamp paper. I just came to know from a person that the stamp Act has been amended and now the minimum stamp value to enter an agreement is Rs. 50/- and not Rs 20/-.
1. Is it true that the said amendment is in force..??
2. Will the agreement become invalid for insufficiency of stamp.??

The value of the stamp duty has nothing to do. The agreement is required to be registered now and if is registered then the stamp duty payable on the earnest money shall have to be affixed which shall definitely be more than Rs. 100/-.
