An individual complaint was submitted before the Magistrate in June last, on perusal of documents direction was issued to police to register a case. FIR was filed in September last. I came to know that the inspector has filed a petition before the magistrate to cancel the FIR.
Whether is it correct to get the required information under RTI Act?
If yes, the authority to whom it is to be made?

Alternately you can get a copy of petition filed by the SHO from court through your advocate.

The copy of cancellation report can also be got obtained in simple way just by moving an application. Police has every power to file such petition. If you are disagree to it then may continue the complaint before the same court.
