Dear Mukesh,
In those days also, birth and death were reported in the village panchayat record. Presently, also in the villages , Gramsevak keeps and maintain record in the register called death and birth register. Since it is very old, this record might be kept and maintained in Tehsil record office, you may seek and give application to that Tehsil Office, in which juridiction your grandfather borne by stating , name of your grandfather, birthplace, and year will sufficient to get the record. After receiving the same, Gramsevak of that village can issue birth certificate.

First you apply for birth certificate to the Registrar of Birth, Office will issue non availablity certificate or entry does not found, then you file a criminal miscelleneous case in the court, You will have to give your evidence and wittness evidence. After that court will pass an order directing the Registrar to make an entry. You will have to take the certified copy the order and you will have file an application before Registrar of births.
