Respected sir,
I am a 28 year old Male, I have legally changed my name 4years back as I had a heated argument with my father so I left the family and started living alone. All the legal documentation done 4 yrs back only for my name change.
Later I realised that it was not necessary to change name in anger. Due to attachment with my original name I couldn't adopt my new name and I am still known by my old name everywhere. I am working in a small enterprise as an office assistant and my salary slip and PF also shows my old name only till this date.
My query is:
(1) Can I retain my original name? What is the procedure?
(2) Or do I have to keep my new name only?
(3) Since I have worked and earned salaries and PF with my original name only, will there be any legal action me?
Please note that I have not taken any loan or done any fraud by using my new name.
Kindly help what to do?

You can revert to your old name by the same procedure which you adopted for name change.

Sir, few days back I met an advocate outside our civil court and he told me that I will be under prosecution for not using my new name. This is making me afraid, Is it true?

He also indicated towards some monetary fine and imprisonment of minimum six months. Kindly guide!

Sir, since no body knows about my new name except me, is it still necessary to get back my original name and go for that procedure again? Also, will there be any harm if I don't go for it? Am I going to face any trouble if yes than please educate me regarding its nature and consequences! I will be very thankful to you experts for your kind guidance!
