Dear Sir, I am teacher in kendriya vidyalaya sangthan. Our principal takes meetings more than 10-15 times in a month after school hours by giving office order without providing any comensation i.e. ccl or additional payment and threatens for extensions of PROBATION PERIOD in case of absence in meeting. Please suggest me whether I can go to labour court for this harrasement and compensation. May I claim for this over time? waiting for your reply. THANKS with regards.

kendriya vidyalaya sansthan are not with in jurisdiction of state inspector of schools. Moreover you are in PROBATION PERIOD ,hence you are advised to pass the period peacefully and do not try to land up in dispute with principal in this period is my sincere advise.
R.Ramachandran (Expert) 07 September 2011
I completely agree with the views of Mr. Prabhakar.

Please think of those days when you were out of job and were yearning to some how get a good job. (I am not for a moment saying that just because you were not earlier having job, now you should be a slave! But if you do not have any concern for continuation in job, then you can take whatever steps that you deem fit.)

It is your probation period, and you have to attend the meeting as called by the Principal. Principal may not be able to call the meeting when you have to be in the Class room teaching! Therefore, if you have to spend some time, you should not consider it a problem at this stage. More over, normally for such type of meetings beyond working hours etc., there is no provision for any type of compensation.

Thanks Mr. Prabhakar Singh for correcting me.

It is very common schools used to utilise the service of the junior teachers for these over time jobs.

My advise is cooperate with them at least till you get confirmation.

I do agree with Ramachandran, who has expressed as if my own advice. There is no need for repetition as you are a teacher and understand each thing in a proper way.

I think teaching is one of the noble profession, wherein the demand of extra effort by all is a good gesture.

even the principle, who is spending the extra time and effort is not paid anything extra.

even at the beginning of your carrier,if you have such feeling, have an introspection, whether you will be able to withstand the pressure in the future?

I too endorse the opinion of Shri Ramachandran. Any extra efforts in the early life can enhance your faculty and would enable you to shine in your career. Money is not everything at every stage. You would be able to earn much more if you enhance your knowledge at the early stage of your career. You may better try to see the efforts of your principal to train you as a better teacher.

I agree with the experts.
