Section 36 : Agreement contingent on impossible event void
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Contingent agreements to do or not to do anything, if an impossible event happens, are void, whether the impossibility of the event is known or not to the parties to the agreement at the time when it is made.
b) A agrees to pay B 1,000 rupees if B will marry A's daughter C.C was dead at the time of the agreement. The agreement is void.

Mr. Mehta,
It would have been better if you could have asked for help from your own law class teacher, as tracks of such types of rare cases are kept by the academics only for teaching purposes.
The example quoted by Shri Sethi and the advice that "you dont need case law for this proposition" should have been quite sufficient for you to understand the implication of sec-36.
Shri Sethi has also given a reference of the site where you can trace the case law, if any. So, why don't you try for yourself to search the case from there, yourself.
