Advocate in politics

dear experts;
I wanted to know that whether a practicing advocate can be appointed as a post holder in any political party simultaneously. no honorarium or income is paid to the post. please suggest in detail.

There is no bar on an advocate to join a party or to hold a post as office bearer of party or to contest elections for MLA or MP
or even to hold office as Minister.
