Visit local bar for engaging Lawyer. Fess differ from lawyer to lawyer. Take help of some known and may negotiate the fees with the lawyer.

Dear Client,

You can approach the Civil court through a suit for declaration and injunction to Tahsildar of your area to declare you as a Legal Heir of so and so a Legal Heir etc Civil courts can issue a direction to

Tahsildar of your area to conduct inquiry into your Legal heir/Family Member status certificate within a Day or two and in this connection the Tahsildar would visit your house and inquire and then issue Legal certificate- as the earlier practice of leaving the entire matter to the whims and fancies of MRO/Tahsildar was tedious, cumbersome and time consuming.

The procedure is very very easy and there is no need to engage a lawyer for this simplest issue.

Legal heirs of the deceased shall have to move a joint application to local Tehsildar supported with their join affidavit which in turn shall be sent to Patwari (Revenue head of area) for verification and thereafter the desired certificate shall be issued by Tehsildar.
