A garnishee order can be served on the respondent’s bank account or employer. This empowers them to deduct money from the respondent’s bank account or wages. You must lodge an application for a garnishee. A garnishee summons is then issued by the Court and you must then serve this summons on the bank or employer of the respondent. Within five days of serving this summons, you must also serve a copy of the Garnishee Order on the respondent. If you do not wish to serve the Garnishee Order yourself, the Court can arrange service of the Order on both the respondent and the Garnishee.
