False allegations by wife - action

(Querist) 14 November 2013 This query is : Resolved
I am of 43 years of age. My wife had deserted me 6 years ago. The divorce case under cruelty and desertion is going on for last 3 years. During the progress of the case my wife had made false allegations of physical and mental torture to her by me and my parents which could not be proved. I have a query ---
Can I or my parents, who are senior citizens, take any legal action on her for false allegations, causing mental agony and loss of reputation in the society? Please advise.

It is common in divorce cases to make false accusations which are not proved later. Better to ignore such matters. According to me you will not have any specific relief for such actions. However let us wait for response of senior experts.

Mere disproof of allegation in a legal proceeding does not give rise to any legal action.
