family property, legal heir certificate

My father died 1year back. I got married 5 months back. At the time of marriage, my mother promised my in laws a house which was in my father's name. And also my father said to my brother to give one of his apartments to me before his death. Now I dont want to take the property. Can I reject taking property by not signing the registration documents .....

Effective and Duly executed registered Deed of Relinquishment of the said property in favor of your immediate family members.
