Had you mentioned in the complaint that the father is missing since 2005?
Anyhow, try to obtain the information on the investigations by the Police under the RTI Act.

Pls ensure whether only missing diary was lodged by the Police Station or a proper FIR was lodged. Many times, the Police does not take FIR.
Second thing, a person is missing when his whereabouts are not known by the persons who would otherwise would have known. In view of this, your father may be considered missing from 2005. FIR is only a proof of such fact. Again, one has to ensure that the FIR has incorporated that he was missing since 2005.

In the if it is clearly mentioned that he is missing since 2005 then that year shall be taken for all purposes.

You are asked about the contents of your complaint, which you did not reply, especially the date of missing registered by police, is vital for further and proper opinion/advise.

Take a copy of diary entry / FIR if already not taken, through RTI and find out which missing date was mentioned by the police.
