Forming a company

Hi
I wish to do some consultancy assignments in my wife s name along with my current engagement in my spare time. Trading may be involved at a later stage not right away. Please guide me as to what kind of a company I need to form / operate under and what is the procedure , I am based out of Mumbai.

If you want to start business, it is suggested to have a proprietorship firm or a partnership firm in the beginning as there are less compliances required for these two types. if at a later stage you feel that you need a company name and your business growth will be more if you do this work in a company then it is very easily be converted into company at any time.
In case you want to incorporate company right from the beginning, you can do that also. FOR A COMPANY THERE MUST BE AT LEAST TWO DIRECTORS AND TWO MEMBERS FOR A PRIVATE LIMITED COMPANY
