Minimum stamp duty you will have to pay, because your father has gifted the property to you, when gift is amongst the family the members then there is minimum stamp duty.
G. ARAVINTHAN (Expert) 09 December 2009
Yes you need to pay stamp duty

But Transfer as Gift among blood relations are not much
Vineet (Expert) 09 December 2009
Stamp duty and registration charges are certainly leviable as the gift involves immovable property.

The rate of stamp duty varies from state to state. It appears that there is no concession for gift deeds in Chandigarh and therefore stamp duty @6% is payable on value of property determined as per circle rate. You can reconfirm the same with some local lawyer dealing in registration matters.
