Harrassment by police officer

Brothers,
A person who was drinking had kept his vehicle outside a beer bar. He was taken to the police station by a police officer. After 2 days the police officer is asking the bar owner to tell that person's details and address. The bar owner says we don't keep addresses of those who drink in our beer bar. The police officer says that unless he gives address, he will not allow the bar to function.
My client, bar owner has approached me. How to deal with the matter?

the bar owner must address written complaint against the police officer to his superiors . metnion name of police officer , detailed facts of the case and request him to take action against the said police officer

I endorse the views of Mr. Sethi.
getting and keeping the records of a customer is practically impossible for bars, hotels etc., and there is no government notification asking the bar owners to collect and keept the records of the customers visiting the bars.
The police officer is looking for nothing but quick bucks.
Better to address a written complaint to the superior officers stating the entire facts.

The Police is doing the wrong thing which is not sanctioned by law.
The Police has no right to close the bar on this ground alone.
Bring this highhandedness to its higher authority.

The concerned police officer is crossing his limits and he has even no common sense so you have a valid reason to make a detailed complaint against such official to his higher officers as well as you can inform and seek help of Excise and Taxation Department from where you got license and contract. You should also take help of news-papers/media and Lokayukt.
