Hra rules for daughter staying in govt quarter of her dad's

Im central govt employee..I stay in govt quarter of my dad who is also a central govt employee..My dad is not getting HRA & I too dont get HRA..All other friends say me that you should get HRA as you are staying in dad's house & this is applicable to husband & wife.Is it true??

Your friends are totally wrong. You are not eligible for HRA in the fact situation narrated by you.

. Only problem is that when you are using govt accommodation of any one of you, then both will not get the HRA. If you are not staying in govt accommodation both are eligible. If you are in rental accommodation, then any one of you are only eligible to take the Rebate of incometax.
