Sir,

I am a hindu balmiki by birth. DOB year is 1954. I became a member of CNI Church in 1995 due to good ethics of religion. But I never changed my religion on documents but only fills the member ship form of Chruch. Now, somebody complaint that he is a member of CNI church, and got a promotion under SC quota. Please tell me, If I become a member of any religious institution, should I changed my religion. ?

have you been baptised as Christain? The Roman Catholic Church, the Eastern Orthodox Church, the Oriental Orthodox Church, and Anglicanism all believe that baptism is the rite through which a person enters the Church and becomes Christian. Therefore, a non-Christian converting to any of these churches would be received into the Church through baptism, followed by confirmation (Catholic or Anglican) or chrismation

in gujrat for instance you need permission from district magistrate before performing or particpating in conversion to christanity .

Only membership to the church does not change the religion. What the bye law of the church says it to be looked into.

For retaining the identity of Scheduled caste, one should belong to Hind,Sikh or Parsi as per the constitution.Other religious people cannot have the status of Scheduled caste. So you must be careful in declaring yourself to avoid frustration by others as belonging to christianity.

If you are still taking benefits of SC category then definitely you are still Hindu and attending the church may not come within your status of religion.
