Labour law - age

(Querist) 05 July 2011 This query is : Resolved
Can a 17 year old person be appointed as an employee of a Company? kindly clarify
Advocate SK Rohilla New Delhi (Expert) 05 July 2011
the law refers him as a 'young worker'. Because he will no longer be at school, there are fewer restrictions and some rules. Because it is school leaving age, he may find that employers may be more willing to offer him part-time or full-time employment like like a busy shop, restaurant kitchen or as a waiter or waitress.

a 17 year old person Can NOT be appointed as an employee of a Company BUT HE MAY BE CONSIDERED FOR APPOINTMENT AS A LABOR.
Kirti Kar Tripathi (Expert) 05 July 2011
It depends on service conditions applicable to the industry. Child Labour Act and Factories imposes restriction on employment of child less than 14 years. A person can be appointed if he is more than 14 years but if he is less then 18 years, he can not be appointed on hazardous to and working hours for him also less then normal working hours.
