Dear Esteemed Luminaries of Law,
I have been a dedicated member of this site for few years now and am working as a HR Manager. In recent time, I believe that I can contribute constructively to the fraternity by learning law myself. My interactions with the seniors here in this site has been encouraging & invigorating to say the least.
Am now eager to study Law, while I continue to practice the HR profession. I would love to enrol myself as an Advocate in the near future. I missed listening to my dear dad (who is no more) about pursuing law instead of having pursued an MBA. I regret it now but I hope it is not too late.
Considering my need and passion, Can you please advise if
(a) I have the opportunity to study Law & enrol as an Advocate as am 40 years old now
(b) If yes, Will I have flexible options to study regular Law on weekends or few days a week evening courses (since am working as HR manager)
(c) If yes, would you please suggest colleges in Bengaluru
(d) If no for Query b, what alternatives do I have on hand to learn Law and to enrol myself as an Advocate subsequent to passing the qualifiers
Iam an eager learner and I can assure the fraternity that I shall upkeep the values of the profession and its heritage. I need the right guidance to practice and bring forth the best of a Lawyer in me. Hope I can keep the wishes of my dad alive.
can you please help me with a guiding reply

1. There are no shortcuts to obtain the degree of Law.
2. There is no age bar to get admission in Law college or even to enroll as an advocate.
3. After enrolling as an Advocate at the Bar council you won't be able to carry any other service or profession unless you surrender your license.
4. No correspondence course is available for law.. it is not less important than becoming a doctor.
5. Inquire the Law colleges online.
All the best.

You can try if some evening law college is in the city. Take admission in that.
For enrollment you have to resign from the job.

Dear Sirs, Yes I fully agree to the requirement of a full time focus on the study of Law, no second thoughts.
I am not looking at short cuts to study law, i wanted to know if there are alternatives to the daily scholar method .
As you have mentioned I have the opportunity to study law through Evening Colleges.
Could you please advice if there are such colleges in operation in Bengaluru for example. Or nearest place maybe Chennai.
As regards the second part of the query, you have addressed it clearly that I cannot pursue another profession if am enrolled as an Advocate, Does that also mean that am not entitled to run a Business such as say Consulting while enroled as an Advocate ?
Regret the additional queries, but much appreciated for your kind reverts,
Thank you Mr Yogen & Mr Rajendra !
Thank you for your time and kind concern
Regards
Raj
