Legal action for abusive words

when there is small dispute neighbour threatens and uses abusive words.
pl. suggest what legal action i can take.
1- should i file criminal case.

Better to resolve the issue with the intervention of respectable persons of the locality.

Neighbors will remain neighbors and cannot be avoided. So instead of aggravating the issues by police complaint and other bitter activities, better to solve the issue by talks or just ignore it.
