Legal Heir Certificate

My father died in a small town in Maharashtra near Bombay. We have a property in Chennai. Can I apply for a legal heir certificate in Chennai. What is the procedure for it? Can it be done online?

If your father was permanent resident of Chennai, you can apply for dependnets / Legal Hier Certificate before Revenue Authorities / MRO/ Thasildar

But in AP Legal Heir Certificate will be issued for Govt Pension Proceedigns only, in other cases Dependents Certificate will be issued.

You can apply at a place where your father was permanent resident.

Permanent place of residence is the proper place from where legal heir ship certificate can be issued by concerned revenue authorities.
