DEar SAnjeev Kumar,

Approach your banker and put request in writing for cancelation of draft or issue of another draft considering previous one cancel.

Don't worry, your money are safe.

Bank can issue duplicate draft on confirmation that the original has since not paid.

Bank would ask to complete some formality including indemnity bond.

Bank can not stop payment of Original draft, if presented for payment.
RAJU O.F., (Expert) 13 August 2014
You mentioned DD was taken in favour of an institute towards payment of fees. Obtain a confirmation letter from the said intitute that the said DD was not reached them nor encashed. Submit the said letter to bank and request to issue duplicate DD as the original lost. Bank will ascertain as to whether DD was paid or not. Then they can issue duplicate DD on your executing the required indemnity bond.

Well advised by experts, you may follow the advise by moving an application in writing notifying the loss of DD and abide by the other formalities in this regard.
Sudhir Kumar, Advocate (Expert) 19 August 2014
I repeat.

Contact bank.
