(Querist) 16 March 2015 This query is : Resolved
Sir,
I would like to know whether a boy could marry his father's father's brother's son's daughter under special marriage act of 1954. I know that this relationship is prohibited under hindu marriage act but this doesn't fall under prohibited relationship in special marriage act. We are really confused. Could you please help us?
Yours faithfully
Akhil

Dear Akhil, even in SPecial Marriage Act such relationship comes within the DEGREES OF PROHIBITED RELATIONSHIP..

Under HMA, Father's father ( i.e grandfather) - his brother - his brother son and u r father stand in the same shoe as BROTHERS & further the brother's daughter and the BOY are brother & sister. which is absolutely within the degree of prohibited relationship.

The relationship would be in prohibited relationship.
