What is the procedure for appointment as a Central Notary Public?

A notary is a member of the public who is appointed by the Center/State Govt.under the provisions of the Notaries Act 53 of 1952.According to this Act,for male applicants,the minimum years of practise is 10 years.A period of 7 years of practise is required if the applicant belongs to SC/ST or other backward classes.For woman applicants,the minimum years of practise is 7 years.Please refer-Rule 3 & 4 of Notaries Act 1952.

Section 3 of the Notaries Act, 1952
The Central Government, for the whole or any part of India, and State Government, for the whole or any part of the State, may appoint as notaries and legal practitioners or other persons who possess such qualifications as may be prescribed.
