I have purchased resale flat in auction from GIC Housing Finance. I have already paid Stamp duty & Registration charges for this Flat. Now chairman of society is asking me to pay Rs.1,50,000/- towards outstanding dues of past Flat Owner. This amount includes interest @21%
Whether this claim of society is Valid Legally?. Can I request society to charge me reasonable amount without considering interest considering natural justice?.

Only sale deed executed in your favour by GIC can help you. If the sale deed clearly that you have to pay the past dues, then you have to pay it compulsorily. But if the sale deed is silent or does not speak of it, then the previous owner has to pay the amount.
In the meanwhile have a look at the society rules and regulations, because there may be a rule or clause regarding the outstanding dues of the owners and its collection.

You have to the terms and conditions of sale deed and conditions of auction. If there is nothing about the past dues then you are nothing to pay.
