Hi, I'm currently living with my brother and sister in law in their house in Mumbai and the flat is jointly owned by them. I entered into a registered rent agreement with them (for 11 months from November 2018 until September 2019) which is renewed last month. Just wanted to know if I can use the rent agreement as an address proof given that we all are living in the same house and I'm paying rent to them? Would this create any problem at passport office or in police verification since the owner and Tenant are living in the same house?

Dear Sir, It all depends upon your convincing your passport authorities and it being not a public document as such there are chances of rejecting the same. Better get public documents like address in your Bank account and get change address in your Aadhar card then approach Passport Authorities.
