FAMILY COURT RULES : Parties in person is must, Once party appoint their Advocate with leave of Court, the Advocate becomes Attorney to handle the case.
.However POA holder cannot depose/ cannot give witness/ evidence.. [unless he has personal knowledge of facts ]

dear sir,

your son can executed a POA, no problem with that. but, that POA has to be authenticated by Indian Embassy in USA.
then you can act as an agent on his behalf.

POA has to be adjudicated in India.

Once lawyer engaged and Vakalatnama submitted he is also an attorny.

Agree with the experts.

For court proceeding the foreign POA is very much valid. No need for adjudication or stamping in India.
Advocate. Arunagiri (Expert) 31 March 2014
A foreign POA should be notarized in that country, and the said document should be adjudicated in the district Registrar office. After the adjudication the POA can be used.
