Respected Lawyers,
my question is that is it mandatory to use English language in high courts & supreme court , if judges, advocates, clients all understand hindi very well and most of all clients does not know english, as well as if any new lawyer who comes from hindi back ground (hindi medium) can practice or use Hindi language in high courts & supreme court.
is any artical/act/rule/provision is given for such things.
( artical 343-351 )
***note i am hindi midium student & want to practice in high court & supreme court as well.
please guide me on this.
thank you !!!

Hi,
I believe it is the State Language in which all official work is done,in which pleadings are permissible & evidence is usually recorded that language is permissible in HCs as well as in SC e.g Official language of Punjab, Haryana is Punjabi and in most of Northern States 'Hindi & English',unless HC Rules of a particular HC categorically bar writing of pleadings & addressing arguments in Official language of a state, there is NO BAR in using HINDI for HC or SC purposes.SEE HIGH COURT RULES......of particular State.Even otherwise there are TRANSLATORS posted in HCs & SC for convenience of Judges who are not conversant with official language of a particular State.Never mind.Go ahead.

As a lawyer you will have to learn and practice pleading and proceeding in English and ENGLISH only at least till the time you retire from bar.
