What is the procedure to get legal heir certificate.My father belongs to pune (passed away recently) and myself his son brought up in tamilnadu.Whether i am possible to get the legal heir certificate in tamil nadu itself.In pune my father had ration card in that my name and my mom's name is included but my sister name is not available.whether her name also will be included in the legal heir certificate and what proof i have to submit for that and how to get succession certificate can i apply it in tamil nadu.

You can apply in Tamilnadu.The legal heirs certificate is issued by the Revenue Department after verification at the place and locality. Apply to the Tahsildar of your area.

You have to apply at Pune where your father passed away. you put application before the Tahsildar of Pune mentioning your name, your mother and sister names with copy of ration card and death certificate of your father. the revenue authorities after due enquiry or verification will issue legal heir certificate. it is valid.

You should apply for the legal heir certificate from Pune, tehsildar office. For succession certificate you have to approach court. Engage the services of some local lawyer.

The process for Legal Heir certificate is simple.Inquire from Tehsildar's office.
Usually the inquiry is routed thru Kanungo/patwari and upon report certificate is issued.

The proper place to seek legal heir ship certificate in respect of legal heirs/successors to your father shall be from the jurisdictional revenue department of the place where he last resided for a year or more than that. So in my opinion it shall be Tahsildar Pune.
