Generally Discharge word is used in criminal cases wherein the accused is discharged from the offense whereas release of guarantee means where a guarantor is exonerated from hsi guarantee either when the accused is discharged from the charges or guarantor deposits the amount of guarantee or he is substituted by another guarantor.

Mr. Subramaniam is right. in other words
'Discharge' implies that you were released after all your obligation(s) have been completed, whereas, 'released' implies that you have been let go, but, your obligation is not yet completed.
