Right release deed

(Querist) 25 November 2023 This query is : Resolved
Good evening.

is the release deed equivalent to the self acquired property or ancestors property.

I got the ancestor's property of my grandfather from my brother (his share) through release deed.
Now is this property considered as self acquired property or ancestor's property by law.
Do I have a right to sell or write a will to anyone of my family members.
Please clear my doubt. Thank You

The relinquishment of his share in the property by your brother in your favor will make you an absolute owner of the said share of proeprty.
Therefore it will be your self acquired property, you can sell it independently

yes. This will be treated as your self-acquired property.

1. It is self acquired property in the hands of your brother.
2. How did your brother got the property from your grandfather by release deed as stated by you ?
3. You can sell it and it do not require to execute any will, as suggested.
