Please tell me whether RTI Act is applicable on private minority educational institution that are affiliated with ICSE or CBSE or U.P.BOARD but do not receive any aid from the Government?

No RTI is not applicable to private institutions/orgnisations

alternatively send RTI to UP board which are the minority institutions which are affiliated to board under ICSE CBSE this will helpful

Thanks Arvind. From the judgment is clear that a private body is not required to furnish all information but only those informations can be asked which are information relating to any private body which can be accessed by a public authority under any other law for the time being in force‖ Thus the minority institutions are liable to furnish on those information, which controlled by the public body under the specific rules and statutes. Since minority institutions are protected under Article 29 and 30 of the Constitution of India and also private body they are not required to furnish all other informations relation to its management, administration etc.

Only when the private institution is receiving the aid from the government the RTI will cover that institution also.
In this case the aid is not there.
So, the RTI application can be sent to the affiliating authority like CBSE, for collecting all the info available with them, on that school.
