Whether Trade Union is covered under RTI Act. Whether it is answerable to the queries raised by its members under the
act. Pl guide.

If recognition of a union by the Public Authority is based on its memberships and the union is a consultative machinery for policy and decision making, then the whole issue is related to public activity as also the list of members are in public domain. In such a situation, you cannot deny information.
Secondly, Trade Union is registered with Registrar of Trade Unions . Trade Union is required to submit assets of union and member list amongst other things to Registrar of Trade Unions regularly.
The information that can be accessed by the government (here The Registrar of Trade Unions)from any registered Body can also be accessed by the citizens under rti act.
Hence, in my opinion Trade Union is covered under RTI Act.
