For the past indiscipline during service period of a retiree the disciplinary authority can take disciplinary action for some specific time, say, 4 years) after retirement also. In any disciplinary case refrence is made for the past misconduct committed during service period only. There is no question of applicability of the conduct rules after retirement.

As per pension rules, action can be initiated against retired government servant before 4 years in respect of the event that took place i.e., 4 years shall be counted from the date of event that occurred and not from the date of retirement. It is not the date of retirement for computation of 4 years.
