Sale of Two Wheeler

I've a scooter to sell. What legal documents should I possess from Purchaser so that in future there should be no legal liabilities for me?
Also confirm what cost Stamp duty or Revenue stamp if required on document?

You have to execute certain forms which are available in the Local RTO office in whose jurisdiction you reside for selling the scooter, there is no stamp duty on sale of movable assets like 2 wheelers, However, you have to make sure that the purchaser transfers the scooter in his name immediately in order to make sure that the vehicle is not misused for any anti-social activity.

there is a specific performa in r.t.o. office to sell of a vehicle fulfill that requirments and get free from all liabilities.
there is no any other short-cut to sell a vehicle.

You have seek just an affidavit from the purchaser in the name of documents on sale of your scooter. You should be firm enough that the buyer has get the registration changed in his name soon after his purchase.

after sale you should inform the RTO through registerd post, about the fact of transfer and delivery of possession alongwith a copy of duly filled up transfer form.

until and unless it is to be transfered to the person who purchsed your vehicle, the liabiltiy is on the part of you and simply signature on the sale and transfer application form is not all give any sort of relief.
