Admittedly, your grandfather had sold the plot long back. How you are concerned?

You should honor the step / action from your grandfather.

If you want to proceed, discuss with your lawyer, show him all related documents.

Consult a lawyer along with all documents.

Never be greed for what is not yours. You admit that the property was sold by your grandfather for consideration long back, why do you want to capitalise the situation just because the name of your grandfather still remains in the land records. However you may consult a local lawyer on further issues.
