Discretion is yours and needs to be exercised wisely. However, even if you chose to convert, you do not lose the protections of the Law under which you were married.

Decide after considering all aspects and after discussion with your lawyer.

if you become muslim then it will be easy for him to keep another wife. do not believe him. just file a divorce case.

On which ground the divorce case has been filed by your husband?
First firm up your mind. If you want to get rid of him, get the divorce decree, otherwise, contest the case.
However, as far as conversion to muslim is concerned, there is no loss of protection of the Special Marriage Act.

Decide whether you want to contest the divorce case or to get decree divorce.
Even you convert as Muslim, the rights accrued under Special Marriage Act 1954 are protected.

Well observed and properly advised by experts above. As the marriage has been ceremonised under special marriages act, even you convert yourself as Muslim, he cannot pronounce talaq, the marital rights are protected.
Decision is yours especially if there is a guarantee for a secured married life by converting to Muslim as per his desire, you may do so, but whether or not you cannot stop him from marrying a Muslim girl during subsistence of your marriage with him..
