Sir a guy complained against me ?

sir, a guy who called is a friend of my ex-girlfriend called me and threatend me to stop messaging her , i told him i just wanted to talk to her and apolozize to her, then he started to threaten my and verbally abuse me. so i disconnected the call and refused to take his further calls. i called my ex-gf and told her about this she said she never asked him to do anything like this, after that i told her why i was messaging and we decided to not to talk to each other any further.But her bf kept calling me threatning me even more of dire consequences but i kept ignoring him , after some time he told me he has lodged a complaint against me and sent me no.. He said he wanted to tell my parents so he has lodged a complaint with police. And sent me a five digit no. calling it a complaint no.
Sir I want to know what will be police's role in it ?
What can i do against it ?

police have no role legally the police can registered a NCR against you after some enquiry.if in the investigation the police seems that you are guilty of any offence they call you or arrest you as the case may be.
