Society transfer fee

Hi,
My mother and me (daughter)have a flat in mumbai under joint name. A month back she transferred her share to me via gift deed of the same flat. Society is asking for transfer fee to transfer the flat completely in my name. Is society right in asking for transfer fee? Kindly help

The transfer fee for transfer within relatives is not applicable in Maharashtra, you may send a legal notice to the society about this.

Pl see the Byelaws of Society. If not given, then charging transfer fees criminal activity. Well, if it is mentioned in he Byelaws, then \it is diferent however even then , not much good shall acrue.
